The Canadian government has announced the launch of the Canada Public Transit Fund, which will invest around €20 billion (CA$30 billion) in public transport over a period of ten years. The money from the fund will be made available for three project categories from 2026: Metro Regions Agreements, which include infrastructure projects between provinces and major cities, base funding for existing local authority transport systems, and targeted funding for individual expansion projects. Since 2015, the Canadian government has already invested more than €20 billion in over 1,800 national transport projects.
