BayernLB and Deutsche Anlagen-Leasing (DAL) have agreed to finance 13 Plasser Catenary Crafter 15.4 E3 electric catenary maintenance vehicles for Plasser Robel Services. Infrastructure operator DB InfraGO is leasing the vehicles from Plasser Robel Services for two years for the maintenance and modernisation of overhead lines, with a subsequent purchase obligation. The vehicles are manufactured by Plasser & Theurer, the financing is being implemented as an individually structured hire purchase model. The vehicles operate on electricity or battery power, which means that no exhaust gases are produced during tunnel operation and less ventilation technology is required. If necessary, a diesel-electric power pack is used to supply energy and charge the batteries. The financing covers a four-year construction period and a subsequent two-year final financing phase.
