Bane Nor awards framework contract for concrete sleepers to Sateba

Norwegian infrastructure operator Bane Nor has signed a new framework agreement with Sateba, a Vossloh subsidiary, for the supply of up to 3 million concrete sleepers over a period of up to eight years, divided into three individual contracts. This means that Sateba will supply almost all of the sleepers laid on Norwegian railway lines in the coming years. Sateba uses cement from Heidelberg Materials's Brevik plant for sleeper production, where a CO₂ capture plant is in operation as part of the Langskip project. This reduces emissions from sleeper production by over 7,250 t CO₂ per year.
