Another €212 million for modernisation of the SLB

The Salzburg Transport Association (SVV) is investing a further €212 million in the modernisation of the Salzburger Lokalbahn (SLB) suburban rail line between Salzburg and Ostermiething in Upper Austria in cooperation with the state of Salzburg and the federal government. The “Salzburger Lokalbahn 2020+” project comprises the gradual renewal and modernisation of the entire network and the associated infrastructure of the SLB. The measures already completed include the new construction of the Weitwörth-Nußdorf, Oberndorf, and Bürmoos stations, and the installation of new track systems on the Fürwag – Lamprechtshausen section at a total cost of €55 million. The construction of further new stations and the double-track expansion on the Haidenöster – Bürmoos and Eching sections are scheduled to follow by 2027. There are also plans to modernise the control and safety technology, equip it with the European GSM-R radio system, and install electronic interlocking systems.
