The government of the Indian federal state of Andhra Pradesh has contracted a feasibility study for a new high-speed rail (HSR) line between Hyderabad, Chennai, Amaravati and Bengaluru. The announcement was made as part of a nationwide initiative to develop a 7,000 km HSR network. The measure is part of India's growing cooperation with Japan in the field of HSR, as already implemented in the Mumbai – Ahmedabad project.
