On 5th August 2025, Alstom opened its first signalling competence centre for the CIS region in Astana. The centre will support the digital transformation of the Kazakh railway network, in particular through the development and integration of Onvia Lock signalling technology, which is already in use at 85 stations of Kazakh state railway KTZ. Its tasks will include system maintenance, modernisation of existing equipment, technical documentation, certification and training of operating teams. The facility is based on cooperation between Alstom and KTZ and is integrated into Alstom's global innovation network.
