Two joint ventures (JV), Alstom Transport with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) as well as DRA Infracon with Siemens, have bid for package S-1, which includes the design, supply, installation and start of operation of the technology and the operations centres along the 508 km line. The use of Digital Shinkansen ATC technology is planned. BEML is developing two prototype trains for speeds of up to 250 km/h, while Japan is planning to deliver two trains for testing in early 2026. A final selection has not yet been made. The evaluation of the technical bids will take several months.
