African countries have called for a stronger partnership with China to modernise their outdated railway systems at the Southern African Railways Association (SARA) 2024 conference in Johannesburg. According to Crynos Mutendera from the Cross-Border Road Transport Agency in South Africa, China's involvement in infrastructure projects in Africa has helped to overcome colonial standards and plans for the continent's transport networks.
