Poland is planning to modernise at least 800 km of railway lines as part of the National Reconstruction and Resilience Plan (KPO) instead of 500 km as originally planned. The investments are to be realised with the originally planned budget of €2.6 billion (PLN 10.7 billion). The European Commission has already approved the extension, which will be formally recorded in a comprehensive revision of the KPO. The measures are scheduled to be completed by August 2026. Funding will be provided through optimisation and reallocation of funds, with major projects being financed from other sources.
